Deeper Tissue Massage

image

Deeper Tissue Massage decreases pain, improves oxygenation and nutrition to muscles, tendons and ligaments while improving mobility and flexibility.  This form of bodywork aims to relieve tension in the deeper tissue layers of the body.  It is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries.  It is recommended that you receive at least one follow-up session to address any residual tension in the deeper layers.  This follow-up is best done within a week of the initial session.  Once the stress in the tissue is released, it is recommended to return for maintenance therapy every 4 to 6 weeks.

Abdominal Therapy

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®, created by Dr. Rosita Arvigo in collaboration with Don Elijio Panti, is an external, non-invasive massage technique intended to guide abdominal and reproductive organs into their proper position for optimum health and well being.  Maya Abdominal Therapy improves organ function by releasing physical and emotional congestion thus facilitating better oxygen, blood, and energy flow of the circulatory, lymphatic, and nervous systems.

The technique combines anatomy, physiology, herbology and naprapathy (study of the ligaments, joints and muscles), with Ancient Maya healing techniques to address common female and male complaints.

Cupping - European Tradition

Traditional European Cupping Therapy has been used for thousands of years as a way to enhance blood and lymph circulation of tight muscles. Hippocrates, the Father of Modern Medicine, was a keen observer of the benefits of cupping and believed in its power to affect muscle dysfunction due to poor nutrition, lack of adequate body movement, and exposure to adverse weather conditions.  Cupping is GREAT for respiratory conditions (colds and coughs WITHOUT fever) and very tight muscles!  It is very therapeutic.

Flower Essence Consultation

image
Flower Essences offer a bridge between the physical and emotional imbalances of the body.  The plant force energy infused into flower essences provides energetic healing at a very gentle and subtle level by promoting awareness of your mental, emotional and spiritual imbalances.  By providing emotional balance this often creates a positive change in your physical body as well.  Flower essences do not change your personalty or mood; they assist your body in dealing with states of emotion that are not serving you and you wish to release.

Flower essences are infusions of plant material in water that are diluted and then stabilized in brandy or vegetable glycerin.  They do not cause side effects.  Flower essences contain no scent and should not be confused with essential oils or herbal tinctures.

One way to think of the healing energy of plants:
the body of the plant = herbal tinctures
the blood of the plant = essential oils
the mind of the plant = flower essences

A Flower Essence Consultation involves discussion about your health history as well as any emotional, spiritual and physical states you are wishing to change.  Several techniques are used to find the core imbalance and a custom flower essence remedy is suggested with dosage instructions and further details of its use.  Flower essence remedies are usually taken several times a day, under the tongue but can also be applied directly to the body or misted into the air with a spray bottle.  Cost of personalized remedies are separate from your consultation fee.

Spirit Gate Naval Cupping

Spirit Gate Naval Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine technique used to remove cold from the body.  Cold enters the body through cumulative small exposures and can cause loss of vital chi.  Cold exposures include eating cold, raw food; icing of injuries and surgery sites; walking on cold floors; sitting on cold tile or marble floors, sleeping with a window open; taking cool showers to quell Summer heat.

Trapped cold can impact the body and make you feel worse when you are rundown or tired.  Cold slows your circulation and can interfere with homeostasis or your self-regulating body system.  The Naval Cupping technique involves using a glass cup to create a suction over the belly button.  After a while, the cup is replaced with warmed moxa to add heat to the body.  During treatment, additional heat is applied to the body using extra blankets and heated stones to warm hands, feet and legs.  Please call if you have more questions.
